About
About the Healthcare Leadership Foundation
HLF develops ethical, patient-centered leaders across healthcare — clinicians, residents, and program leaders who can carry both the science and the spirit of medicine forward.
Developing Ethical Leaders Who Heal Healthcare
Healthcare needs leaders who can hold complexity, restore trust, and put patients first. We exist to develop them — not as a program graduates pass through, but as a practice they grow into over a career.
Our mission
To develop physician-leaders of character who build high-performing teams and deliver patient-centered care.
Our vision
A healthcare system led by people who serve patients first — and the colleagues, communities, and institutions that care for them.
Born from a Proven Model of Leadership Education
HLF grew out of the Feagin Leadership Program at Duke University, a model that has shaped a generation of physician-leaders. We built HLF to extend that work — to bring patient-centered leadership development to clinicians and program leaders across the country.
The Foundation of Our Work
Five values shape every program we run and every leader we develop.
Meet the Team Behind the Mission
HLF is led by a board, an education council, and an advisory council — clinicians, educators, and leaders united by a shared commitment to patient-centered leadership.
